Feature story planning - Final Exam part 4

Now it is time to prepare for your Feature Story.

It is important when you go into creating this story that you have a careful plan. You need to know what angle you are going to take and what story you are going to tell. I will be walking around to talk to you about your Feature Story near the end of class.

1. Come up with 20 questions that you can ask your main subject. Type these in your Feature Story Google Doc.

2. Now write 5-10 questions you need to ask your supporting interviews. Type these into your Google Doc. You may need different questions for each supporting subject.

3. You will need to do a little research on the topic you expect to interview your main subject about. Take a little time and do some google searching - find at least 5 new things about the intended topic you should know before you interview your main subject. List those on your Google doc.

The more prep you do now, the easier this story will be later.

You need to plan to do ALL of your interviews over the break. When we get back, you will have THREE FULL CLASSES to write this story (that is 4.5 hours). You do not need to do any writing over break (unless you want to get started, maybe make an outline, maybe write the lede), but make sure you have your interviews done.
